COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 68
This has been quite a day. First, Jewel was several hours late with groceries for my site because ten people allegedly called off today. While that is a shame, someone should have called me. Instead, their workers kept telling me that the groceries would be ready "in ten minute. Instead, they had to deliver groceries to my site after 7:30. This is the third time they have done this to me, and the last. I shall simply find another location to patronize.
Well, there seems to be good new and bad news. The good news, that pig Chauvin was finally arrested and charged with murder. The bad news? They forget to arrest his accomplices. After all, they could have helped Lloyd, but they just stood there while Chauvin murdered Lloyd. The are accessories to murder, and they should be arrested also. More bad news? Minneapolis is burning, and the 3rd precinct police station was burned to the ground. I even read about how an African -American man had saved for a sports bar and was about to open, but the rioters destroyed it. This is what happens when rioters (not protesters) feel they can make a point by destruction of property. Sure, Black Lives Matter, but what about Black dollars? Why hurt innocent parties since you are angry and frustrated?
Sometimes, I wonder why God made me Black. Being Black is hard. First, I must bear the embarrassment when someone from my ethnicity does something wrong. Whether we want to admit it or not, society imposes collective responsibility on my entire heritage. When a Black man swipes a woman's purse, I feel compelled to make myself feel the least threatening as possible at night when I am walking behind a woman of European heritage. This is why I am careful about the way I dress, so that I do not like a clown in the least and a thug in the worst. More than once, I am asked why I do not "talk Black." What is Black talk? Is it illiteracy? Sorry, but I am educated, and I put my education to use. Dear friends of European heritage, whenever you are pulled over by the police for speeding or running a stop sign, what thought pops into your mind when the officer approaches you? Of those I know, their only concern is whether or not they are going to get a ticket. As for me, I wonder if I am going to be another statistic. I wonder if the officer approaching me is decent or if he wants to humiliate me or find a reason to kill me. So far, I have not had any issues, God be praised. Additionally, I notice how we are scapegoated and mistreated internationally, and I feign to understand why. Just look at the stories of even celebrities of color visiting parts of the world, like Croatia, China, and the Middle East. We are even prejudiced against ourselves! We are too dark, not dark enough, poor and uneducated, rich and uppity, ashamed we descended from slaves, slave still in the mind, and so forth. It seems that most African Americans who are trying their best are in a state of major exhaustion, especially when people with agendas try to define our heritage. We just cannot win.
On the other hand, at least Phase 2 in Illinois has ended and Phase 3 has begun. Because of such, I have cut off my beard as planned, and now I have a perfect view of my double chin!
--Signing off.
