COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 181
This was a very rough week. It seems that, no matter how much I learn certain lessons, I must always keep learning them. I learned that age and wisdom, or even age and maturity, don't necessary correlate. I have learned that, as Scripture says, people sing their songs and say their prayers, but they treat people as if they worship Satan. I guess this is the year that I must learn these, amongst other, lessons. But amongst me learning such lessons, I will teach lessons too!
I had to stand up for myself this week to someone. Whilst I cannot give details, I had to explain to someone who was talking behind my back that I know what they were saying, and I tried to make peace, but this person would not have it. He ranted about all he does for people and denied doing anything. He accused me of being a Christian hypocrite who cannot forgive. Well, that's all right. The Lord knows who I am, and He will answer those who hurt me. He will give me the strength to defend my honor and the wisdom to know when and when not to. He will comfort me and heal my heart every time it breaks.
Speaking of the Lord, there have been reports of this church in California who have been defying orders of the state against having indoor services. The pastor leading them is Pastor John MacArthur. He was fined, but that wouldn't stop him. When he was threatened with arrest, but he said that he would just start a jail ministry. On the one hand, I applaud him for standing up to leaders of a state that has become quite adept at violating the rights and liberties of others--especially those they consider not politically correct enough. If the governor's order truly mentioned churches in its language, then MacArthur's argument has even more fuel to it.
On the other hand, it has been reported that over 2,500 people were drawn to his services. Unless this church is as big as Comiskey Park, I don't see this church being a safe environment, even with masks. Freedom fighting or not, there is still a pandemic going on. Yes, I know he does not want to have outdoor services because of the summer heat. Maybe he could give tickets to the regular members and set aside a few extra tickets for visitors, encouraging all of those who exceed the limit to worship at home or (gasp) worship elsewhere. Unless he has a way to keep all worshippers from getting sick, thousands of people worshipping together in a tight space is very dangerous. All it takes is that one infected person to make everyone sick in a short time. Then he will have this on his conscience. As for going to jail over this, he may think this will make him a martyr. It will not; not this time. All it will do is give corrupt politicians like Newsom more power and credibility. As for Pastor MacArthur, he'd better hide in the high grass when the foolkiller comes around.
--Signing off.
