COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 365
A whole year; a whole year has passed since I started writing this blog. It has been three days since the one year anniversary of the pandemic. This pandemic caused suffering all around the world, but not as much as it has affected Americans. As of today, 29,920,435 have been diagnosed with COVID-19. That is almost 10% of the population. That means, of ten people with whom you will interact this day, one will have had it or are suffering from it now. Also, the latest death toll is 544,424. Hence, if you have not lost a relative or friend from COVID-19, you know someone who has suffered such loss.
Let us look back a year ago and compare it to last week. First, there were still hate crimes and acts of intolerance against ethno-racial minorities, only the last weeks have seen an increase in racism towards Asians--since they are being accused of bringing the virus to America (even if they were born here and never left).
There was an incidence of our President slinging mud at a foreign power. The foreign power was not Iranian, North Korean, or even Chinese; it was Russian. Biden had the nerve to call Putin a soulless murderer. He should talk. He is the murderer of unborn children, and he will aid and abet the murder of American citizens when terrorists, gangsters, and drug lords follow halfway decent migrants across the border since he feels that being politically correct is more important than border security (and I applaud Texas for trying to do the job the federal government will no longer do). He will aid and abet in the rape and molestation of our women and children, should this disgusting Fascism Equality Act get passed and signed. At least Putin has an understanding for the laws of nature. At least he is not trying to take the souls of the people like the Communists have done and the un-American fascists are trying to do. At least he is not a slave to lobbyists. At least he is a true patriot to his country. At least he can walk up a flight of stairs without falling thrice! Putin is a better leader and man than Biden AND Trump can ever hope to become. America would be a better place to raise children and make a living if we had leaders more like Biden!
What else has happened? So-called leaders are still denigrating those who disagree with him. He compares those who disagree with the Equality Act for religious reasons are no different from the Ku Klux Klan. This is an insult to true Americans AND to those who are the KKK's targeted groups (Blacks, Jews, Native Americans, foreigners). If you are against the Equality Act, have you burned a cross or an effigy on the lawn of and LGBTETC person's house or the house of a woman who wants to kill her unborn child? Do you want to stop them from voting? Do you want them to use separate water fountains, washrooms, entrances, and schools? Did you kidnap them from their homelands? Do you want them to get off the sidewalk when you walk by? Do you want them to sit in the back of the bus? Did you ever lynch any of them? Do you even hate them? I would hope the answer from each of us is an emphatic NO. This is what really angers me about leftists. They have the gall to insist that the LGBT struggle is the same as the Black struggle. If you see me walking up the block, you will know that I am a racial minority if not Black. That makes me a target. As for Whites of their group, as long as they keep their mouths shut (from talking and kissing), not wear a shirt, pin, or mask with the flawed rainbow (a true rainbow has seven colors--not six) or says something about their lifestyle, or as long as they don't wear too much (or too little) makeup, no one will think of them as anything other than White. All we want is to be left alone and to not be denied the right to disagree. Hence, I denounce Dick Durbin (appropriate first name, yes?) as a traitor to all America stands for. This Act will not make people accept the people they are trying to uplift. In fact, it will only make them targets, and it will create more violence against them and against Congress. They are right to be afraid of further attacks on the Capitol building. I think something worse might even happen. There might even be another civil war before I die.
So, has the pandemic changed the way we do things? Let me answer that question with a poem the little woman inspired me to write:
It was supposed to make us appreciate life more
But the lights of humanity are still snuffed
On the streets and in the clinics
It was supposed to make us love each other more
But we still attack, mock, loot, and burn, and murder
Because of skin color
It was supposed to make leaders link arms for freedom
But they still mug-sling, denigrate, plot, and scapegoat
In the name of political correctness and lobbyist dollars
It was supposed to make us more responsible to our neighbors
But we still are reckless and insensitive to each others' needs
Because our personal rights are more important than the greater good
It was supposed to make us better Americans
But too many of us still want to destroy the positives of our legacy
To punish the sins of our ancestors
It was supposed to bring us back to God
But we either blame God or His Children for the pandemic
Or we feel that our comfort and life choices trump obedience to Him
What have we learned?
What have we learned from the isolation?
What have we learned from the restrictions?
What have we learned from the joblessness?
What have we learned from the death?
What have we learned from the mourning?
What have we learned?
Absolutely nothing.
That is the sad truth, but it is the truth nonetheless. Still, it is not too late. We can learn by being the change (or retention) we wish to see in America. We can learn by not voting for someone purely because of their party. We can learn by looking to God more and reading the Bible. We can learn by praying more. We can learn by listening more to our brains and our hearts than our feelings. We can learn by standing up to those who refuse to learn. As long as the American flag flies in Washington, DC, and as long as there is still the Constitution, it is not too late.
For those who have stated their interest in my new blog, this is not goodbye, but "See you in a different house!" As always, I appreciate your readership, as well as your encouragement.
God bless you, and God bless America.
--Signing off.
