COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 36
Great news! Steven Landek, the Mayor of Bridgeview, my town, endorsed my blog! I wrote to him to see if Bridgeview had any plans for making masks mandatory, and he replied to say that Bridgeview would only follow what the Governor instructs.
Then, he wrote the following:
"Also, I very much enjoy reading your daily post !!! Don’t worry about the critics. Nothing will ever be achieved by listening to the critic. As Teddy Roosevelt noted in his famous speech, The Men In The Area, '…it is not the critic who counts…'"
This post really made my week, and it is only Monday!!! And don't worry either, Mr. Mayor! I am too hardheaded to let critics stop me. If I did, I would never try to accomplish anything. I would not have gone to college or grad school, and I would not be a social worker. I would not be a writer either. I have noticed that the usual critics fit into two categories. The first one category belongs to those who keep everything and everyone into a tidy, quaint, little box, becoming uncomfortable with something does not fit. The second category belongs to those who have neither the motivation nor the applied intellect or knowledge to do anything beyond what is needed for survival or temporal pleasure, deriving purpose in knocking down those who strive for better. Both types of people need praying for, but we cannot be stopped by them. Thank you again, Mr. Mayor, for your support. If I publish this blog, I will send you an autographed copy!
Returning to those fools who partied like there is no pandemic, the video of the crime was shared over 1 million times, forcing the governor and Chicago's mayor to get involved. They found that the violation took place at a townhouse around Narragansett and McLean on the Northwest Side. While none of the brats were ticketed, the owner of the home was given two citations. This was a surprise for her because she was not the party's host; her son was. Additionally, she did not even know there was a party. Because of her son's stupidity, she is now humiliated across the state and possibly the country. Whenever people in the future talk about quarantine violations, they will talk about the townhouse on the Northwest side. Fortunately, names and the specific address has not been provided, but the neighbors who called the police know who they are, and that woman's son will potentially expose her to hate mail.
If I were the boy's mother, I would make her son pay the fines and then kick him out of the house. And if he gets sick because of this, insurance should make him pay 100% of the medical bills. This may seem very harsh, but how many warnings does he need? What part of "no gatherings of 10 or more people" did he not comprehend?
What would you do if you had a son who violated the lockdown so recklessly? Please post your comments below.
