COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 64
So, the good news is, the issue with Big Syl is not the compressor. Halleluyah! It appears to be electrical. They need another day, however, to find and resolve the problem, so I won't get my car back until tomorrow.
More good news: the death toll for COVID-19 is the lowest it has been in a month. Yes, it does seem as if the virus is being controlled. So far, it seems that the move to Phase 3 on Friday is inevitable. In retrospect, when the nation determines what the "new normal" will be after a vaccine or treatment is approved, they need to create laws to stop people from neglecting to cover their mouths in public areas when they cough or sneeze. We need to outlaw such carelessness of people.
To take it a step further, schools must start making sure their students, even kindergartners, are aware of preventative measures. Additionally, all child care providers must either send sick children home or keep them in isolation. Workplaces must either provide sick pay for their workers or allow them to make up the work with extra time. Going to work whilst infected because one has a family to support should no longer be allowed to be a legitimate option. If a workplace cannot afford to give a worker sick pay, then insurance companies should develop plans so that a person can still get pay even when sick. I heard of this chef in Will County who still went to work even though he was infected. Imagine how many people he could have infected with his food--even if the dining room were closed. All it takes is 1 person to create a local epidemic. If a relative of mine died because he became infected after eating his food, I could sue the restaurant for wrongful death upon proving the chef or any employee were infected. I hope everyone learns two lessons from this pandemic: 1. If you are sick, stay home and 2. If you are well, be careful.
And now for the moment you have been waiting for: I have decided to continue this blog. I am glad so many of you have been enjoying and edifying this blog; I truly appreciate your comments! My plan is to wait until Phase 3 has ended, and I will ask each of you again if I should continue. I was at least able to work on my book today; I just need to continue setting aside time therefor.
--Signing off.
