COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 69
Before I begin, I want to correct myself on one thing. I kept calling the subject of the rioters George Lloyd, when his name is George Floyd. My apologies.
What started as a protest last Tuesday has turned into a violent national free-for-all. In the middle of all of this, everyone continues to point fingers at everyone else. If it is not the President, it is the entire police force, the prosecutors, or the progressives. There were even acts of violence in downtown Chicago today, forcing Mayor Lightfoot to impose a curfew "until further notice."
If I must blame someone, I blame the "progressives" for encouraging people to fight belligerently for their rights but ignore their responsibilities. I blame the Democratic party for making empty promises to ethnic minorities and for caring more about sexual minorities and women who want to kill unborn children than about true understanding and mutual respect. I blame the White supremacists who taught Chauvin that, in the words of Rev. Dr. Vernon Johns, "it's safe to murder Negroes" even in broad daylight and on camera. I blame the police code that teaches officers to always stand up for a brother officer, even if he is wrong. I blame the Minneapolis Police Department for breaking up a peaceful protest with rubber bullets, tear gas, and chemical irritants, thereby causing the riot, whilst angry conservative "protesters" in Michigan were allowed to storm the state capitol. I blame the prosecutors for taking forever and a day to charge Chauvin, without arresting his accomplices as accessories to murder. I blame the President for making impulsive comments out of unrestrained emotions that were too easily misconstrued. Finally, I blame the rioters for destroying people's businesses and livehoods, including African Americans'. I refer to the firefighter who saved so much money to open a bar, which was delayed in opening, and then destroyed by rioters.
It really irks me when people, including the media, use the term "violent protest". Let's get one thing straight. A protester organizes, marches, carries a sign, and makes noise. A protester does not destroy cruisers attack bystanders, and vandalize property! Only a rioter of a mob does this. A protester is a freedom fighter and an agent of change or justice. A rioter destroys property, spray paints slogans, throws debris at police, and brutalizes those who get in their way. Protesters should be allowed to protest, and rioters should be punished within the fullest extent of the law. On the other hand, when the police attacked the protesters last Tuesday, they in fact created a riot. Whoever put out the order to break up the protest in such a fashion owes every business owner and good police officer an apology. It is a major pity, however, that not enough protesters understand the concept of satyagraha that led the Civil Rights Movement.
--Signing off.
