COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 72

This woman says exactly what has been on my mind.  These so-called activists are hypocrites. Chicago, just like other American cities, has had its own Kristallnacht, in which the perpetrators feel that such destruction is what is needed demonstrate that Black Lives Matter. The same weekend of the riots, there were, again, 92 shootings with 37 fatalities. Just like every week, most of these shootings take place in predominately Black areas. I know I make enemies, but until Black men stop shooting each over over gang rivalry or to protect one's rep, until Black women stop going to Planned Parenthood to have their unborn children murdered, and until Black people stop chanting "No Justice, No Peace" and start chanting "No Responsibility, no Respect", I will not be convinced that Black lives truly matter to all Black people. If I, as a Black man, am not convinced, why should others?

Out of curiosity, I went to the Black Lives Matter website to look at their mission statement. At first, when you read what they are about, it seems like a passionate, semi-revolutionary movement that wants to fight against police brutality and racial discrimination. Then, when you get to the bottom of the page, you read these quotes:

"We make space for transgender brothers and sisters to participate and lead.

We are self-reflexive and do the work required to dismantle cisgender privilege and uplift Black trans folk, especially Black trans women who continue to be disproportionately impacted by trans-antagonistic violence. We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable.

We foster a queer‐affirming network. When we gather, we do so with the intention of freeing ourselves from the tight grip of heteronormative thinking, or rather, the belief that all in the world are heterosexual (unless s/he or they disclose otherwise)."

Really? What does all of this have to do with racism and police brutality? When I read this, I don't picture leather or dashiki clad brothers and sisters with Afros and cornrows. I picture a spoiled White female college student with a hot pink colored sidecut hairdo, who prides herself in being so self-righteous, who never laughs or smiles but is always offended by something. She is obligated to reprimand a person who says something remotely offensive, and she hangs her head in guilt and shame every day for being born White. If she is straight, the only man she could ever tolerate is one who is whipped, who never speaks, except to agree with her, and who feels compelled to bear the crimes of all bad guys on his shoulders. In fact, why is it that the loudest voices at their rallies are Euro-American women? They seem to be the ones leading the rallies. Sounds like we have a Savior complex going on. Black Lives Matter, right.

While we are talking about Black lives, I had the displeasure of learning that, in addition to rioting and looting in Chicago, there have been instances in the Little Village neighborhood in which Black commuters and been attacked, beaten, and stabbed just because they are Black. An old classmate tried to convince me that these attacks are only people defending their neighborhoods and businesses. In reality, a Mexican gang leader was reportedly killed by two Black guys, so they were going to attack all Blacks, no matter who they are, when they come in their neighborhoods. Maybe we should tell these barbarians that the first color of Chicago was not brown. It was not even White. It was Black. I am referring to Jean Baptiste DuSable, the Haitian who founded Chicago. No one has the right to tell a citizen where he can or cannot go in his own city. I am glad that Chicago's overworked police are blockading the areas with the most attacks. I hope all of the attackers, especially one who stabbed a pregnant woman are arrested and sent to prison to serve REAL time. Then, any perps who are not citizens should be deported and barred from America for life. If you cannot show respect to ALL American citizens, you don't belong here.

Well, Chicago begins Phase 3 in the morning. I hope we are ready. I hope the affected stores can recover soon.

--Signing off.
