COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 188
Another interesting, eventful week. Where do I start?
First, there's the death of the one of the most powerful nursemaids to leftist radicals, Supreme Court "Justice" Ginsberg. Okay, to be fair, she has done some good things and have made a few positive changes. Still, to a person who believes that life begins at conception, that sexuality is a private issue alone, and that small minorities should not force their issues on the majority (with a few exceptions), some of her rulings are an affront to morality, freedom, and even nature. That being said, I found it interesting how people showed disrespect to Ginsberg and other mourners by booing the President when he came to her casket. The irony is, if he did not come to honor her memory, people would have booed him for not coming. With leftist radicals, you cannot win.
As for him nominating a candidate to take over Ginsberg's place, good for him! We need an even balance of liberalism and conservatism in the Supreme Court to defend the Constitution and ascertain justice is served. If you were upset that Obama couldn't pick his third liberal but are upset that Trump will choose his second conservative, I protest your double standard. In a mostly conservative court, justice is denied. In a mostly leftist court, justice is denied. The sad fact is, presidents do not choose candidates for balance. They choose those who suit their beliefs or will placate their most powerful lobbyists.
Yes, so many people are getting the election fever. I see it by how the nastiness has gotten worse and people right and left are trying to influence my vote. I have seen women with class who are usually above all immature and divisive behavior debase themselves with this political nonsense. There are those, usually African-American, who have said that Trump emboldens racists to spew their hate speech. There may be a little truth to this, but it is not completely true. There was hate speech, bigotry, and ignorance all along. It hasn't grown; it has just gotten more noticed. People are recording it more and taking more issue with it. Sure, more people say things that they would not have under Trump. Is that his fault? Is he pulling their strings? Or is he assuring people of their freedom of speech--something denied in blue states? I am not sure. Still, with political correctness running amok, with people losing their livelihoods for not baking a cake or expressing an opinion, with a man sentenced to 16 years in prison for burning a flag, and with victicrats being given the bullhorn so many times, racist behavior was going to continue happening.
Speaking of racism, BLM bandits and their champions of White guilt have spent the spring and summer trashing and burning down cities all over the country in the name of racial justice and against police brutality. Guess what happened? Even more police officers are given a slap on the wrist in a person's death. Yes, I am talking about Breonna Taylor. While what happened to her is tragic, I agree with Charles Barkley: her case is not in the same ballpark as George Floyd. While Floyd's death was deliberate and cold-blooded, Taylor's was reckless. It seems as if she had gotten in the middle of the crossfire between her boyfriend and the police. She did not even have a gun, and the boyfriend claims self defense for firing at officers who entered their home without announcing themselves. If you are a decent person who hears a someone breaking in and not announcing themselves, wouldn't you want do defend yourself? What I don't understand is, how could Taylor be shot 8 times, with no weapon, while her boyfriend was unharmed? Also, for the officer to shoot her so many times, even firing his weapon into another family's unit, how could he only be charged with wanton endangerment? Why not at least voluntary manslaughter? I am just glad that people are not rioting again. It's not helping. It is only destroying our honor. It is setting the state for a race war. That is one war I will not fight. I will just leave.
Finally, there is the news that 200,000 Americans have died so far from COVID-19. Two-hundred thousand. What a sobering reality. We need to get a vaccine, and soon. What is taking them so long?
--Signing off.
