COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 314
This week, one of you who is a regular reader expressed to me that, while he did not agree with some of my views, enjoys reading my blogs and encouraged me to keep blogging. This, friends, is open-minded thinking--something this country sorely needs right now. Another regular reader is an Democratic Illinois senator, so I know much of my opinions cross hairs with policies he supports. I appreciate this, friends, and it is an honor sharing my thoughts with you. Another person who had read my posts could not see both sides of the coin. They would shut you down if you said anything slightly supportive of the previous president. They would rant and rave about him but would not listen to my response. If they disagreed with a point I made, they would ask me for my source, and if I told them, they would discredit it if it were from a conservative viewpoint. I would tell them not to discuss politics with me since they would not listen to other perspectives or be fair in their judgements, but they would violate this boundary I set constantly--especially on the week of the November 2020 elections. Friends, if you can't agree to disagree, what is the point of listening to anything you have to say? This person would use my blog posts to justify disregarding my boundaries about political discussion. This person no longer has direct access to my blog posts.
Sidebar, just because a news source is from a political organization, it does not mean that the information is false. One must read between the lines. I never use just one news source. I listen to Newsradio 780 for quick facts; otherwise, I read Associated Press and Daily Wire--as well as Des Plaines Valley News. I don't trust Fox because of constant inaccuracies, and I avoid MSNBC and CNN because they only tell you what they want you to know. Either it is used to spread conflict or it is biased against conservatives and freethinkers. A good source for checking the biases and integrity of different sources is Media Bias/ Fact Check.
Last week, one of you were concerned about the upside down American flag, and you were concerned if I were not giving the flag appropriate respect. First, my apologies if this offended or hurt anyone; I assure you, this is not my intention. An inverted flag is a lesser-known military custom, used when in distress. Considering the current state of affairs, we are a nation in distress, thereby deeming the inverted flag apropos.
It never ceases to amaze me how the current President contradicts himself. He calls himself a devout Catholic whilst doing things contrary to his own faith, and he wants to unify Americans, yet he wastes no time undoing so many of Trump's policies--even those that make sense. He cancelled the pipeline project, putting thousands of Americans out of work, and even making Canadians angry! He and his administration now want to stand by and undermine the Constitution--even the First Amendment! Pelosi and her Three Stooges are still want to impeach a president who is no longer president because they hate him. (But wait! Hate has no home here!) Leave it to a leftist extremist to waste tax dollars. They are now going after "Trump supporters." Such supporters include the CEO of MyPillow, Mike Lindell. The lynch mob not only banned from Twitter, but overpriced Bed Bath & Beyond and (you guessed it) Amazon dropped his products. At least Fascbook still allows him to advertise, and at least Walmart still sells them. Well, I went to their website, and I bought one of his pillows. If you believe in freedom, I urge you to do the same. These pillows are not cheap, but they are on sale and are good quality. If you want to buy something from them, visit https://www.mypillow.com/.
I am going for my vaccine booster on Tuesday next week. By mid-February, I will be vaccinated. I am so pleased how things are moving along with this vaccine. At work, clients over 65 just started getting their shots, and other members are slated to get their vaccines within a few weeks. I have high hopes that COVID-19 will be a memory before summer. True, there was a shortage last week, but regular people are still preparing to get theirs.
For those who are asking, I will continue blogging, no matter what. As for this blog, I plan to retire it after Day 365, and then I will start non-COVID-19 blogging. For this, I wish to return to my question last week. Should I resume "The Silver Soapbox," the blog I retired 4 years ago, or should I start a new blog? Please go to the survey and answer the question: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GSJLH6C
Finally, they are threatening up to a foot of snow, and the snow is already deep. Unfortunately, church tomorrow is being cancelled, and there will be a virtual service instead. I know that some people cannot drive in heavy snow, but it's a shame that church is being cancelled though. I can't do any more virtual stuff though. I have been making phone calls for almost a year, even though I hate talking on the phone, and I am Zoom'ed out. I need to be with people and to get out of the house. Fortunately, the Greek Orthodox church near my house, where I went for New Year's, is still going to be open, so I will attend their services instead. Those brave Greeks! ;-)
--Signing off.
