COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 328

I have a few things to discuss today. 

First, as of Tuesday, 2/16/2021, I will be completely vaccinated against COVID-19. Halleluya! (As tomorrow is Transfiguration Sunday, I know I will only liturgically be allowed to use this word for 3 more days. ;-) ) I am glad that, after many hurdles, seniors are now getting their vaccinations. If you have not gotten yours, please do so--for your health and others. It is safe, and it does not alter your DNA as some conspiracy theorists suggest. If you can get Pfizer, great. If not, Moderna is almost as good. Just avoid others--especially Astra Zeneca. It is only about 70% effective, and the company has the reputation of using aborted fetuses. 

Second, for those who have not heard, the former president, Donald Trump, was acquitted again. I guess the Democrats in Congress enjoy wasting our time and money. For the record, if you listened to his speech, he did not encourage those rioters to storm the Capitol building. He told them to protest, and when they started rioting, he told them to go home. I am not pleased either way about the outcome, but it truly tickles me to imagine how Pelosi and her three stooges were seething at their defeat. That's one of the only things I liked about the guy--that he gave these leftist extremists and career politicians a run for their money. Incidentally, those are the qualities they hated about him. 

Hence, it should come to no coincidence that I was put in Facebook jail for 24 hours for something I posted over a month ago. As the media and Big Tech were so quick to accuse Trump supporters of the siege, I thought it was interesting when someone discovered that a rioter masquerading as a Trump supporter was a member of Antifa. So I shared it. A few days later, I forgot all about it. Now, after feeling defeated by their arch nemesis, Fascbook moderators, probably green-haired "progress" flag waving NYU students with too many tattoos and piercings, decided to take weak attempts at revenge. Why just 24 hours? Why not 30 days? Why not deactivate my account? 

I have been trying to convince many of you to get MeWe accounts. MeWe is a free alternative to Facebook, and it offers freedom of speech and privacy. I urge all social media users to seriously consider joining since I will soon only use Fakebook for business and keeping in contact with people. If I could, I would wash my hands of them altogether.  One day I will.

If you want to read and share opinions without worrying about falling into a predicament similar to mine, join MeWe. If you want to be a slave to Big Tech, keep using Facebook and related social media. Sooner or later, Big Tech will only allow leftist shells to freely use their social media. 

While we are on the subject, only one of you completed the survey, but that's all right. My next blog will not be on Blogger since it is up to people like me and you to take away some of BT's power. I will try a smaller venue, like LiveJournal. When the time comes, I will share a link with you. 

Last but not least, Parler did not relaunch on Monday as Dan Bongino told us. I tried to find out why, but no one is answering me. How annoying.

I am glad that more and more people are getting the vaccine. A senior client of mine had just gotten his second shot this week, and he will be fully immune by the middle of March. I have heard that my senior friends and my mother are starting to at least get appointments. On top of this, today's news is that FDA approved a third vaccine--from Johnson & Johnson. This vaccine is a one shot deal; yes, there are no booster shots. Before you celebrate, please keep in mind that this vaccine is only  up to   85% effective. I don't know how this was considered good enough (still better than Astra Zeneca), but I think they should only give this vaccine to young adults in good health. The other two, especially Pfizer, should be given to the older and/or frail populations.  It was announced that the COVID-19 death toll reached 500,000 this week. COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 146

  Another rough week. My paternal grandmother, Grandma Margie, has been diagnosed with, you guess it, COVID-19. She is non-symptomatic, and she is in isolation. Guess how I found out about it? From my brother on my father's side--in my Facebook newsfeed. Of course, I started to worry because no one called or texted me to tell me. I sent a message to him, my younger paternal brother, and my paternal sister. I asked them when they heard about Grandma. I also included my old man in the text, wanting to know what her condition was and why no one called me to tell me. As it was late at night, I did not get a response for either of them, but I managed to enhance my calm well enough to go to sleep. When I didn't get a return call in the morning, I called my old man again. (Sidebar, my apologies if the moniker for my father offends you; that's just how I refer to him.) COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 365

 A whole year; a whole year has passed since I started writing this blog. It has been three days since the one year anniversary of the pandemic. This pandemic caused suffering all around the world, but not as much as it has affected Americans. As of today, 29,920,435 have been diagnosed with COVID-19. That is almost 10% of the population. That means, of ten people with whom you will interact this day, one will have had it or are suffering from it now. Also, the latest death toll is 544,424. Hence, if you have not lost a relative or friend from COVID-19, you know someone who has suffered such loss.  Let us look back a year ago and compare it to last week.
