COVID-19 Lockdown: Day 3
Another day spent at home. While I went to my patio to "summerize" my bicycle, I was in the house all day. Besides Tangaray flirting with me and the occasional "Hey Devin?" from the wife, I didn't get many interruptions today. That was good since I was busy checking in with clients via telephone, plus the clients of my esteemed colleague since she was out sick (no, she doesn't have "it", God be praised).
Of course, the day could not end without correspondents criticizing the President. So, there was a press conference today, and when the President said that he hopes that the crisis would be over by Easter, Dr. Fauci, the medical spokesperson of the COVID-19 task force, said that it is necessary to be flexible. Because of this, people not only think Fauci is openly defying the President, but they are congratulating Fauci for their illusion.
Let's get something straight. President Trump is NOT a doctor. He has no medical training. Ask him yourself, and he will confirm this. It is not his job to make medical theories or inferences. It is his job to answer the question "Now what?" It is his job to assuage the American people. There is no medical value in the word "hope." None. Niente. Nada. Bubkes. However, Americans expect their leaders to try to ease their (here comes that naughty word) fear. To defer to the facts, but to assure us that we don't need to run a blade across our wrists.
On the other hand, it is a doctor's job to give medical facts--to show what jagged rocks can be seen when we remove the rose-colored glasses. That is what Fauci is doing, and that is what the President wants him to do. When Fauci told America that the Easter deadline was not flexible, did the President do anything to stop him from telling the truth? No. He stood and listened.
For those who made up their minds to take everything Trump does or says against him since day 1, I know what I am writing will fall on deaf ears. For the open-minded, however, the quick spread of COVID-19 or the aftermath cannot be pinned on the President. One can point to how the President ended the Pandemic Taskforce team by cutting their budget. So, no other president cut funding for something that they shouldn't have? Reagan? Big Bush? Clinton? Little Bush? Saint Obama? They are all as guilty as he is of cutting necessary funding. Someone I care about, and I will not name names, has cancer because President Obama's administration felt that testing certain levels in his blood once a year, something that even Little Bush left alone, was unnecessary. This was a simple test that could have prevented not only the cancer itself--but the spread.
Also, the Trump administration, like most local governments, has been very diligent in putting a cap on the spread of this virus. He is not hanging anyone out to dry. Besides, no one was truly ready for the spread of this virus. We know about China and Italy, with Spain trailing behind. Let's look at the death tolls of other countries--countries that leftist elitists consider paradise. In France, the death toll, as of today, is 1,100. In the United Kingdom, it is 422. First, these countries have smaller populations compared to the US, with the UK having roughly 66 million people and France having a population of approximately 67 million. Imagine if the population of either was the same as America's 330 million citizens. Hence, if the American system were worse than the British or French system by population, the death toll from COVID-19 would be well over 2,000. And what is the current American death toll? Only 782. Remember that the next time you are tempted to compare our leaders to those of other countries.
Again, I have had enough with any president being criticized for trivial things. Trump just yawned; he is bored. He staring into space; he does not respect the speaker. Michelle Obama's arms have no sleeves; she is being immodest. Malia was spotted at a party. So much for being studious. This is how much Obama's vacation cost the American people. This is how much Trump's vacation cost the American people. PUT THE SHUT TO THE UP! This nitpicking is not healing people of the virus. It is not comforting the families of the dead. It is not uniting the American people; in fact, it is pushing us closer to the second civil war. If you can't be constructive and fair, say nothing to me about politics and the government. I don't want my ears polluted by such hateful drivel anymore. Save it for someone with cares.
Signing off.
