COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 26

Another busy day today. Since Instacart failed me, I needed order pickup via Jewel. As soon as I pulled into the designated sub-lot, a worker came and took my information, and he brought the groceries for my clients immediately. Very sweet!

On the other hand, I had a taste for Chinese food today, but the place where we usually order was closed. Surprisingly, most Chinese restaurants are closed nearby, and I have read how Chinatown is suffering because they have lost 70%-80% of their patronage. People, you are not going to get sick from eating Chinese food! The restaurant where I order, New China in Summit, IL, is one of the only Chinese restaurants, except for Chi-Tung in Evergreen Park, where you can get Chinese food as good as you can find it in the city or Chinatown. The only remote danger in a typical Chinese dish is hypertension, and that is only in dished loaded in sodium. There's nothing stereotypical in Chinese food prepared in America. If you ask for chicken, you get chicken. If you ask for beef, you get beef. If you want soup, your choices will be egg drop, winter melon, wonton, or chicken corn chowder, and not bat soup! If anything, the typical Chinese dish is healthier than the typical Chinese dish, so eat!

Again, Chinese people are not trying to kill you by disease. The whole world is responsible for the spreading of this virus by refusing to teach and follow simple hygiene and germ containment. Also, maybe one of the lessons of this pandemic is that globalization is a bad idea. If we were isolationists, perhaps it could have been controlled sooner. I still believe that this was created to teach us humility and community. Maybe this separation from each other is meant to teach us to enjoy each other's company more.

So, once again, Chinese food is safe to eat, and Chinese people are safe to be around--using social distancing, of course. The only Chinese people I have a problem with are those who are persecuting Africans and other Blacks in China, accusing them for spreading the virus. Hence,  what we are doing here is the same as what they are doing in their country. Let us also not forget how the Chinese government continues to persecute Christians, threatening to arrest those who even attend church via Zoom. No matter how hard they try, God will never be placed below the state. That goes for Governor Cuomo as well.

--Signing off.
