COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 48
God be praised! The Lord is starting to answer my prayers. Remdesivir, the first medication shown to bring faster recovery for those with COVID-19, is coming to hospitals in Illinois! Surely, many will say, "That's good for those who have it, but what about a vaccine? How can we stop COVID-19 from being so contagious?" This medication is still important because it requires some understanding of the virus in order for it to bring a faster recovery. This in return could keep more people from dying. If we understand the virus enough to treat it, it will not be long before we can create a vaccine or even, God willing, a cure. We must allow ourselves to luxuriate in this possibility!
I keep reading about protests against lockdowns in Illinois and especially Michigan. While our governor has been decent about how he handles the quarantine and treatment, what I have read about Michigan' governor makes it seem as if she has crossed the line too many times. (Of course, that does not give protesters the right to storm the capitol building!) The social distancing and the masks are important, but so is making a living. So is freedom. Those who protest are doing so because they feel that the government is taking away the freedoms of others in the name of safety and health. We see it when a man is arrested just for playing frisbee with his son in his own yard. We see it when Christians who go to drive-in church services are ticketed even when they follow social distancing. We especially see it in the media when experts use scare tactics to keep us frightened enough to want to give up our rights.
Speaking of corrupt politicians, let's return to New York's Governor Cuomo. It was bad enough when this self-avowed Catholic committed blasphemy by telling people not to thank God for the fruits of medical efforts. It was bad enough when his hotheaded brother insulted a constituent for reminding him that he is supposed to be quarantined. Now, this dope has the gall to thank the out-of-state health providers and volunteers who came to help save the lives of his constituents...wait for it...by giving them income tax bills! He especially did this to Samaritan's Purse--the volunteer service led by Dr. Franklin Graham. Let's not forget that New York politicians like Cuomo and Brad Hoylman were resistant to Samaritan's Purse's presence in New York. If they had their way, only organizations backed by atheist Democrats would be allowed in New York, the fates of thousands of New Yorkers notwithstanding. This vulgar excuse for a governor has a state with the most infections and deaths, and he still prefers to use his position for leftist grandstanding, including criticizing the President. It is so ironic that insulting our leader has become so socially sanctioned that not enough people are paying attention to the actions of those who criticize the most. It's like a person brutally scolding a person who burped to keep people from noticing that he just released gas. I just hope New Yorkers will remember Cuomo's behavior at re-election. If New York's citizens are as much asleep as Illinois', probably not.
--Signing off.
