COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 95
I am back from my retreat refreshed and able to tackle the world better. I guess I missed a few things while I was gone. First, I learned that over 80 people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, and about a dozen of those died, including a few children. One girl was sitting in her house and a bullet came in from her window. A man killed two teenagers for, wait for it, asking how tall he was. Black Lives Matter, indeed. Let the record show, friends, that those who murdered Black people over the weekend were Black! Not cops, not even rednecks or good old boys, but Black civilians!
I read how supposed Black activists are offended when a person, usually White, mentions that there are good cops, show dissent for the looking and rioting, say all lives matter, or mention the deaths and random shootings in African-American neighborhoods. If that is the route they choose, then they should change their name Barbaric Black and Intellectually Stupid White Lives Matter. So, to them, Black Lives only Matter when it comes to cops, Whites, and conservatives. And that is ALL that matters. Well, what about Black responsibility? What about Black accountability? Or would these sanctimonious White activists prefer to cradle us and wipe our tears for the rest of our lives?
I have another gripe with Black Lives Matter. This borderline terrorist group's leaders are advocating for the destruction of property. Shaun King wants to destroy all statues of Jesus with European features because they promote White Supremacy. Give me a break! What about the statues and pictures of a chocolate Jesus with braids or dreads? Don't they promote Black Supremacy. The fact is, people of European descent have been portraying Jesus as White long before meeting Africans, and they continued thereafter. It is not because of White Supremacy. It is because people try to make Jesus more personal, like a family member. Sure, there have been those who internalize these images to say that God is White, but most White Christians don't even think of such things. I have seen pictures of Jesus as an East Asian and a Native American. Destroying a statue of Jesus looking European will only burn bridges instead of building them. This effrontery will affect Christians of all colors. What discredits their movement even more is how their supporters and benefactors destroy statues without checking their significance. There are statues of Abraham Lincoln and abolitionists that have been destroyed. Even the statue of President Ulysses S. Grant, a Union general who also eradicated the Ku Klux Klan, was destroyed. The rabid ignorance! This is what happens when Black folk will only read horoscopes and romance novels. This is what happens when you are clowning around during history class.
What will they desecrate next? John Brown's grave? Dr. King's grave? To hell with the movement! When Gandhi saw the home rule movement, popular as it was, took the wrong move and became barbaric, he fasted until it ended. Honestly, if I fast in this country, I would die, so the next best thing is to make an example out of these destructive barbarians. Arrest them to the fullest extent of the law, and do not free them until every statue is fixed or replaced and all the graffiti is cleaned--by them! Those who complain of such treatment, arrest them too and give them the same punishment. Yes, punish the police officers that use excessive force, but the problem now is the self-proclaimed rebels. It is time to remove this problem--by any means necessary. This movement no longer speaks for African Americans. It just makes us look like animals to the rest of the world. James Weldon Johnson once said, "It's no disgrace to be Black, but it is often very inconvenient." Damn straight, brother. Damn straight.
While we are in the neighborhood, Hawk Newsome, another BLM leader, went on television and said, "if this country doesn't give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it." Negro, please! What you may want may not be bad, but the way you are going about it is disgusting. Besides, we are still only 13% of the population. Even with the White radical leftists, we are not big enough to take on the government and the rest of White America. By making such threats, you are not only pointing a bigot's gun to your own head, but you are doing the same to every Black person who dares to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and with no witnesses. Do everyone a favor, and put the shut to the up.
At least there was good news waiting for me when I got home. It looks like Illinois, including Chicago, will proceed to Phase 4 next week, though some worry if we are ready. We have been keeping the virus under control while states that did not have strong restrictions are relapsing. Are we ready for the next phase? I suppose we shall see.
