COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 96
Things are getting gradually better COVID-19 wise. In addition to the Phase 4 beginning, the governor decided to reopen schools for the fall semester. As for the states that did not take this seriously, they are raising restrictions again. Indeed, we should be taking this seriously, but we should not use this virus to oppress others and limit their freedom. We should also not be so afraid that we surrender our rights and freedoms. If we give up our rights and freedoms for security, all three will eventually be taken from us, and rightly so.
It would appear that we are getting the repercussions from the riots which I knew would come. First, there are stories of police officers and private individuals who advocate killing, even via massacre, of African Americans. Furthermore, there was a news story of teachers taking a photograph whilst holding a noose, plus nooses just happening to appear in broad daylight. Then, there was the story of a young biracial woman who was attacked in her car, throwing lighter fluid and a lighter at her whilst yelling racial slurs. No matter how many times you post signs that say "Black Lives Matter" and no matter how many speeches politicians may give, people will look at African Americans, and all they will see is businesses burning, private citizens attacked, monuments destroyed, and cities devastated. It barely matters that the rioting and looting were interracial affairs. It was all carried out in the name of Black Lives Matter, so those who believe in collective responsibility will see all African Americans, myself included, as brutal cancers of society that must be eradicated by any means necessary.
Speaking of Black Lives Matter, they still will not acknowledge the many deaths in Black communities BY Black people! They don't even want to renew the one thing that strengthens us: the family unit. In fact, their own mission statement says, "We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement..." Serious? And they care about Black lives? Don't these people know that, when the nuclear family in our community was stronger, so were our middle class and ability to assemble? Our children were well rounded, the parents were respected, and the elderly were honored. People could walk outdoors and not feel danger. We were much better off in homes with fathers as well as mothers, where the child was obedient and where the parents did not withhold discipline. Take that all away, and ratchet, "gangsta" lifestyles are praised, and those who are educated (not indoctrinated) and believe in responsibility are called "bougie" "Uncle Toms" and "coons." But, this is what BLM and their supporters want. They want an ethnicity or race of babies who have temper tantrums but walk around with dirty diapers that they expect White self-haters to change.
Another thing, and I mean no offense to anyone, why does BLM talk so much about the LGBTQ+ so much? Returning to their website, you will see mission statement quotes such as the following:
"We affirm the lives of Black queer and trans folks..." "
"We make space for transgender brothers and sisters to participate and lead."
"We are self-reflexive and do the work required to dismantle cisgender privilege and uplift Black trans folk, especially Black trans women who continue to be disproportionately impacted by trans-antagonistic violence..."
"We foster a queer‐affirming network. When we gather, we do so with the intention of freeing ourselves from the tight grip of heteronormative thinking, or rather, the belief that all in the world are heterosexual (unless s/he or they disclose otherwise)."
What is the deal with these statements? What does this have to do with Black Lives mattering or their original intent for their movement? Why must the LGBTQ+ movement always get so much attention? Why must it encroach on other movements so much? In this country, people see my dark skin a block away. When they see me within 50 feet, they know I am Black, but when people see someone who looks like Ellen DeGeneres or Elton John, all they see is another White person. A White person is just a White person until they open their mouths or don the 6-colored flag.
When a person who is not visibly of European descent is mistreated by a crooked cop, their sexual or gender identity are irrelevant. Besides, were the LGBTQ+ kidnapped from their homelands and brought to this country as slaves? Were they sold away from their parents and children? Were they punished for speaking the languages? Were they required not to look straight people in the eye? Were organizations created to keep their from voting? Of course not! Still, the founders of BLM feel it necessary to include these statements. The simple fact is, while most African Americans are liberal with fiscal matters, housing, race relations, police relations, and employment, we are, admit it or not, conservative with everything else. The majority of Blacks shouting "Black Lives Matter" don't give a flying fiddle about transgendered or queer causes. If they believe otherwise, then they have better hide behind the bushes when the fool killer comes their way. Be what you want to be, but spare yourself the headache of forcing acceptance from others. It does not work for Black people, and it will not work for the LGBTQ+, and, sadly, especially not the Black LGBTQ+.
Another thing, why must the 6-colored flag be flown on on government properties every June? Why must business owners modify their logos to reflect the 6 colors? This community is less than 5% of the American population, yet Pride Month gets more attention than any other monthly festival. Where is the African American flag at the embassies in February? Why don't companies modify their logos with red, black and green? In other words, whatever happened to E Pluribus Unum? This means that, as a country of many heritages, identities, etc., we are supposed to unite under one identity--the identity of Americans. That identity is manifested in one flag--the flag with red and white stripes, and white stars in a navy blue background. They say that they include the 6 colors to be inclusive, but I say, if the American flag is not inclusive enough for you, you do not belong in this country!
But then, do BLM members truly want to be a part of America, or do they want to be like Shaka, who burned down a village that was unfriendly to him and his family? When you are only 13% of the population, revenge is not an option. If you want a race war, prepare to lose. Prepare to suffer more than ever before. Prepare for innocent people to be killed. Prepare for forced deportation. Prepare for genocide. If life in America is so unhappy for you that you must destroy things and ruin the lives of those you say you are trying to defend, then accept Ghana's invitation and move to their country. But, the second you utter statements about "trans folk" or being "queer affirming", you will experience brutality so great that you will know how free America still is. America has its problems, but there are few countries where you can shake your proverbial bottoms in public and insult the President, yet still expect to sleep soundly at night and have a job in the morning. Yes, people in fact have too much freedom, and it is taking away the freedom of others. Still, America is freer than most nations in the world. To that, I say God bless America.
