COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 111

I returned to work this week. The COVID-19 restrictions did not change. I missed two clients getting seriously ill however. Another one must self quarantine for two weeks because he visited a state with a resurgence of COVID-19. At least he is accepting of it. Another one said that he would refuse to honor the quarantine--as if he had a choice.

It has been one week since I stopped attending my previous church. I turned in the key to the more decent member of the "ruling family." If I had to give it to the first person who asked for it, I would have sinned. The latter man has one of the worst attitudes I have ever seen in a church. He is disrespectful and domineering. Maybe he is trying to compensate for something he feels is missing, or maybe he needs surgery to remove the large bone from his head. At any rate, this good-old boy is one of the causes of a dying church. Such pettiness and phariseeism have no place in a church or any Christian group. It drives people away and does nothing to advance God's kingdom. Of well. At least I never need to see him again.

Returning to the BLM movement, Mississippi has decided to cancel its state flag, which includes the Confederate flag. I understand how people feel about this flag. Still, I also understand why some people like the flag and has  no foul intentions. For some, this is their way of saying that they enjoy being Southern while others use the flag in their White Supremacy repertoire. Perhaps instead of removng the flag outright, they should determine what the people want; put it to a vote. As for Christopher Columbus, that is one statue that can go. The same for the holiday. Make no mistake about it; he was a mass murderer who tried to enslave the Native population of Hispaniola. I have said for years that we should stop honoring him. He did not even discover North America: Amerigo Vespucci did.

Still, no matter how I feel about it, there is no excuse for destroying statues and monuments. Those who are guilty of this must be punished and made an example out of. We must show all millennials what the difference is between protesting and rioting, especially since the media keeps referring to protesters as rioters. Especially since leftists keep saying that destroying and looting property in the face of injustice is acceptable. Especially since people think they have a right to wearing Black Lives Matter apparel to work. Yes, there have been people playing the race card because their bosses tell them to remove BLM apparel. Well, their bosses are right! Unless you work for a politician, politics and social statements have no place in workplaces. Black Lives Matter is a political and social statement and are therefor inappropriate, just like other states, such as Love is Love, the LGBT flag, the symbol of the Human Rights campaign, MAGA, or even Charleton Heston's NRA slogan, "From my cold, dead hands." In that light, I still believe that kneeling in protest is not something a football player is getting paid to do. Save that for off the field.

Finally, what is with all of these businesses with all the BLM signs? While some businesses are legit, the rest are just pandering to African Americans. Sure, they say Black Lives Matter, but they mean Black dollars matter or Black votes matter. It is nothing by exploitation of people's feelings and emotions. If Black Lives Matter, maybe the mayor of Chicago would get her priorities straight and take firm steps to deal with these killings.

--Signing off.
