COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 237

Another week gone by. Another week less with COVID-19. It would appear that the percentage of those contacting COVID-19 is up again--close to the numbers back in May. Sure, it would be easy to feel despair from this, but don't forget that we are encouraged to wear masks now much more than we were in May. Plus, we have treatments to reduce the risk of death. Then, of course, Pfizer developed a vaccine that is supposed to be 90% effective. We are going to beat this thing, friends. Just keep praying and living in hope!

I hope each of you had a chance to take a look at my article in this Des Plaines Valley News newspaper--if you live in my locale. I had the displeasure of reading the letter below mine from a woman who is, unfortunately, going to be my new representative, replacing Dan Lipinski in 2021. She talks about how we need to fixing America and all that jazz. The majority of her post involved her doing what most politicians of the Democratic Party have done: denigrate President Trump and then gloat about Biden and his female multi-ethnic wonderchild Harris. Seriously, These things will not fix America! She says that the majority of Americans chose Biden. The simple fact is, more people voted in this election that ever. Plus, even though the majority of American voters voted for Biden, like she says, he did not come close to winning by a landslide. While 78.6 million Americans voted for Biden, 73.1 Americans voted for Trump. That is 5.5 million margin--out of 330 million people. If the voters truly represented all Americans and foreign residents, for each person who rejoiced at the election results, another person mourned. Yet, she lacked the prudence to keep her mouth shut about Trump. I therefore wrote a response to her tirade.  I hope the newspaper will print it, and I hope Newman will read it. I miss Lipinski already.

Finally, I find it interesting how people, when comparing Trump to Biden, would say that Trump has no political history whilst Biden has an expansive history. While I don't always like listening to our dear president talk, there is one smart thing he said, which rings true for too many career politicians, including practically all aldermen in African-American neighborhoods. He said that, for 47 years as a politician, he hasn't done jack.  This, friends, is part of the reason why 46% of voters did not vote in 2016--because too many politicians make promises, only to sit around in tuxedos or fancy dresses, eat lobster and steak, and go golfing or jet-skiing. Just look at so many aldermen and state representatives in Cook County alone (if you are a politician who is receiving this post from me personally, this does not apply to you ;-)  ). Just look at Bobby Rush, Emma Mitts,  and Danny Davis. They have been in their same political seats for more that 20 years, but their precincts have been just a poor and dangerous now as when they first came to office. They have used their time in office playing the system and making rich friends, often making decisions as the expense of the people they are supposed to support. Maybe Biden will actually do something good--for all Americans. Maybe he will stop paying attention to lobbyists and leftist extremists. As the Zen Master said, we'll see.
