COVID-19 Lockdown, Day 343
I am glad that more and more people are getting the vaccine. A senior client of mine had just gotten his second shot this week, and he will be fully immune by the middle of March. I have heard that my senior friends and my mother are starting to at least get appointments. On top of this, today's news is that FDA approved a third vaccine--from Johnson & Johnson. This vaccine is a one shot deal; yes, there are no booster shots. Before you celebrate, please keep in mind that this vaccine is only up to 85% effective. I don't know how this was considered good enough (still better than Astra Zeneca), but I think they should only give this vaccine to young adults in good health. The other two, especially Pfizer, should be given to the older and/or frail populations.
It was announced that the COVID-19 death toll reached 500,000 this week. Is it me, or did the death toll increase by 100,000 people since Biden took office? You tell me. Anyway, I see that only 2 of you signed my petition to declare March 18 a nation holiday in honor of those who died from it. If you are interested in signing, click here.
Now, for the bad news of the week. The House of Representatives (of Fascist Lobbyists--Not Americans or the Constitution) passed the "Equality" Act. It is now up to the senators to fight over it. Of course, Biden said that he will sign it if it passes the Senate.
For those who are not paying attention, the "Equality" Act is a very dangerous bill for the faithful--especially churches, parochial schools, religious businesses and institutions. This bill would require doctors to perform abortions and sex changes, pharmacies to provide the abortion pill, as well as for Christian medical centers to provide likewise. This bill would require all public buildings, including churches, to allow individuals to use the restrooms according to the genders they choose. This means, biological males can sit in stalls next to little girls. Biological boys can participate in girl's sports (so the girls won't stand a chance.) Churches and schools can no longer speak against LGBTQETC lifestyles--no matter what our Bibles say. Finally, this means that those who refuse to do so for reasons of conscience, religion, and spirituality can be fined heftily--even up to the point of filing bankruptcy. Again, churches, parochial schools, and other faith-based institutions are not exempt.
Well first, if you voted for Biden and the Democratic lobbyist slaves and radicals in Washington, nice going. I know that some of you voted not for Biden and the slaves in question but against Trump. Does no one care that there are independent parties, like the Libertarians? Did you not know what Biden would do if Biden became President? Do you not care? If you knew what Biden would do but voted for him because you would jeopardize your liberty to protect your feelings or handouts, you deserve none of these. You deserve to be a slave. If you didn't know, you need to stop drowning yourself in television and biased drivel and do some real thinking. All of the bills introduced to Congress are posted on House and Senate websites in full text.
Dear Muslims and Jews, don't think this bill will only affect Christians. While Christians will be the main targets, you will not be safe. For instance, if a woman, Muslim or not, does not want to cover her head in services, you can't make her leave. If a biological man who identifies as a woman wants to sit in the women's section, you must let him. If someone finds the divider between men and women offensive, you might end up having to take it down. Plus, if two men or two women want to use your place of worship to get legally married, you must allow them. If they come to your bakery and want to bake you a wedding cake, you must bake it.
Friends, there is nothing equal or fair about this farce of a bill. In fact, there is one word to describe it: tyranny. People of all faiths have fought for the lives to come to America to escape such nonsense--where the entire nation, and thousands of years of civilization are turned upside down to placate less than 5% of the entire population. This bill is in direct violation of the 1st and 13th Amendments. The majority of the House has already violated their oath of office. If this passes Senate, the majority of Senate will have violated their oath of office. If the President signs it, he will have violated their oath of office. Maybe then, the leaders of the Roman Catholic Church will want to get off their cassocked behinds and give him a well-deserved excommunication. This President lied to us when he said that he would bring unity. After all, he has not wasted time overturning every act of Trump's that has been important to conservatives and free-thinkers. This Act will only divide us further and make attacks against the Capitol building even more tempting. Plus, it will not help us understand or tolerate certain groups of people any better. In fact, this will only make people hate them more. (Sidebar: Coca-Cola and other "woke" businesses are doing nothing but making people of color targets by these stupid trainings to get White employees to be "less White." So, thank you, and screw you.) And the Supreme Court had better bloody well stand up and call the "Equality" Act unconstitutional because it is about as constitutional as Plessy v. Ferguson.
The House of Representatives already failed us, but it is not too late to try to reach the Senators. Visit www.senate.gov and choose your state on the top left-hand corner of the page. Once you get the information of your senators, write them both, and then call them. Tell them your outrage against this bill and remind them of their oaths. If you voted these Democrats in the House into office, this is your opportunity especially to stand up for the reason why so many people want to come here. Do it for your church, your school, your career, your children, and your love of freedom. This is not the time to shrug your shoulders and do nothing. Silence is no longer an option. If you do nothing, and this fascist act becomes law, you will become just as responsible as those who voted for the bill.
One last thing, I have been asked to give brief presentations for African-American History month. I am going to discuss two unsung civil rights activists, but I really wish everyone in my community--especially the Christians--to have more dignity and accountability for themselves. Those who have been reading my posts throughout the years know what I am talking about, but I have summarized them into my "30 theses" or, more specifically, 30 things you can't say in the African-American community. Kindly take a look at them and share your comments.
